Discover the story of CPE Dollard — how it grew from its humble beginnings in 1973 into the trusted daycare it is today, built on dedication, family values, and a passion for early childhood care.

Our Story

Centre de la petite enfance Dollard has been a trusted part of the Dollard-des-Ormeaux community since 1973. Built on strong family values and a passion for nurturing young minds, the centre’s history is one of growth, dedication, and continuous care for children and families.

1973: A Vision is Born

Centre de la petite enfance Dollard was co-founded by Mrs. Dorothy (Boileau) McBain and the late Mr. Norman Boileau. Their dream was to create a welcoming, supportive space where children could learn and grow. The daycare opened its doors with just 38 children in a small location at St. Luke’s Parish.

1976: A New Home

As demand grew, the daycare moved to a larger space at the Church of the Nazarene, allowing them to serve more families while maintaining their close-knit, nurturing environment.

1977: Becoming a Non-Profit Organization

In 1977, the daycare officially became a non-profit organization under the name Garderie Dollard, Inc., formalizing its mission to serve the community.

1994: A Fresh Start in a Farmhouse

The daycare relocated once again in 1994, moving into a renovated farmhouse. This new setting offered more room for exploration, learning, and play, creating a home-like atmosphere for the children.

1999: A New Name for a New Era

With the establishment of Quebec’s Ministry of the Family, the centre updated its name to Centre de la petite enfance Dollard to reflect its alignment with the province’s new standards and programs in early childhood education.

2010: A Purpose-Built Facility

In 2010, the centre moved into a brand new, custom-built facility, beautifully located within Dollard-des-Ormeaux Park. This modern space was thoughtfully designed to support the evolving needs of children, educators, and families.

Today: Continuing a Proud Tradition

Under the co-directorship of Karen Boileau and Julie McBain, Centre de la petite enfance Dollard continues to uphold the founding vision. With a focus on care, learning, and community, the centre remains a trusted place where children can thrive.
